Report Reveals Young Employees Crash Most
Figures have revealed that many fleet managers are unaware of the percentage of company traffic accidents that involve a young employee. Road accident charity Brake are quoted as saying: “this is concerning since fleets that don't record and maintain this information cannot assess and mitigate their risk.”
It is known that traffic fatalities account for the biggest death toll globally for young adults. Statistics also show that employees aged 24 years or younger are 26% more likely to crash than any other motorist.
With the odds stacked against them, it seems as though young drivers now have another hurdle to contend with. However, It is reported that thanks to two new reports from Brake, organisations are being encouraged to manage young driver risk. The reports are also hoped to save lives, money and the environment by improving fleet safety.
Roz Cumming, professional engagement manager at Brake, explains: “The reports emphasise the importance of managing young driver risk, and provide practical steps for fleet managers to follow.”
