New legislation came into force this weekend, which lets 16 year olds drive car-like quadricycles
16 year olds can now legally drive car-like quadricycles on UK roads as pan-European legislation comes into force.
From 19 January 2013, the old 50cc moped category has been enhanced with additional categories that let 16 year olds drive as well as ride.

These lightweight ‘cars’ are also capped to a maximum top speed of 28mph.
