Samsung unveils new Safety Truck
Technology giant Samsung is taking steps to make heavy goods vehicles safer for other road users.
The Argentinian arm of the South Korean company has been testing a brand new ‘Safety Truck’ that could make accidents resulting from risky overtakes a thing of the past.
It only exists as a prototype at the moment, but the Safety Truck’s use of cameras and video panels could be revolutionary. A camera mounted on the cab relays images to four screens on the rear of the trailer, effectively allowing motorists behind to see through the truck to the road ahead.
In a blog post announcing the prototype, Samsung wrote; “So far Samsung has been able to confirm that the technology works and that this idea can definitely save the lives of many people.”
The tests have so far proved encouraging, with sudden braking and sudden hazards such as animals being easily spotted. Samsung believes that the Safety Truck could soon be a common sight on the world’s roads, saving many lives thanks to a little technology and imagination.
